New Photovoice Exhibit Explores Community Energy Through the Eyes of Chelsea & East Boston Residents

A new photovoice art exhibit composed entirely of photos taken by Chelsea and East Boston residents will be on display at the Chelsea City Hall Gallery beginning Thursday, October 23, at 6 p.m. – the night of the exhibit’s opening reception, a free event open to the public that will include refreshments.
To create the exhibit, titled “Energy in Our Community,” GreenRoots and Northeastern University invited residents of Chelsea and East Boston to take photos that tell the story of the complex and profound importance of energy in their communities as part of a research method known as photovoice, a research method where individuals document their lives and communities through photographs and accompanying narratives to identify and address social, environmental, or health issues.
The result of this research is a community exhibit that presents the experiences, concerns, and visions of residents in Chelsea and East Boston regarding energy transitions in their community.
Neighbors from Chelsea and East Boston are encouraged to attend the exhibit as a way to learn about their neighbors’ experiences, concerns, and visions regarding energy transitions in their community.

The Chelsea City City Hall Gallery is located on the 2nd floor of Chelsea City Hall, 500 Broadway, Chelsea, Massachusetts, and its hours are as follows:
Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Tuesday: 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
