Featuring Special Art Installation: Tropical Resilience Lounge

Join us Thursday, June 19, 12-5PM, at Washington Park for a free community event celebrating culture, resilience, and unity through music, food, and interactive art.

Special Art Installation: Tropical Resilience Lounge
Created by local artists Carolyn Lewenberg and Edwardo Chacon, this immersive installation is part of the MAPC Lower Mystic “Cool Communications” Project to raise awareness about extreme heat and community resilience.
The Tropical Resilience Lounge includes:
Sculptural Palm Trees – Large-scale art creating a tropical oasis
Coconut Coir Groundcover – Natural textures for a sensory experience
Colorful Seating Areas – Comfortable spaces for individuals and groups
Tropical Mocktails & Popsicles – Refreshing non-alcoholic drinks and treats
Curated Tropical Soundscape – Sounds of birds, breezes, water, and percussion
Voice Memo Station (QR Code Access) – Share your stories and reflections on heat resilience
On-Site Tech Support – Help available for digital storytelling
Community Zine Distribution
