The Interiano family wants you to experience Mexican and Central American hospitality every time you step into El Potro Mexican Bar and Grill. Conveniently located at Chelsea’s Mystic Mall, the big dining room and outdoor patio has plenty of parking for their guests. Brightly colored walls complement hand-carved furniture from Mexico.
The energy around the large U-shaped bar is festive with boisterous music and a dozen televisions featuring Boston and national sports. With complimentary chips and homemade salsa, as well as a vast selection of tequilas and margaritas. The menu is centered on familiar dishes like enchiladas, fajitas, steak, burritos and nachos. El Potro’s portions are generous, and entrees are accompanied by creamy refried or black beans, rice and tortillas.
The Interianos’ story is a familiar one in Chelsea. Elias and Juana Interiano arrived in the US as hardworking immigrants from El Salvador. They got their start by picking tomatoes and washing dishes. After years in the restaurant business working for other people, the Interianos opened their first restaurant in Somerville in 2006. Their goal was to offer authentic Mexican and Central American food prepared from family recipes using fresh ingredients. They continue to refrain from mixes or ready-made ingredients.
The business has grown locally to four locations, including Somerville, Chelsea, Lowell and Malden. The next generation of the family, son Jason Interiano, is one of the general managers. He poses the same drive of his parents and is dedicated to creating or better opportunities for their family for years to come.
El Potro’s kids’ menu will occupy the little ones while you enjoy your evening out and allows for true family dining experience. El Potro also offers take-out, catering, and is available for private events.

Convenientemente ubicado en el centro comercial Mystic Mall de Chelsea, el gran comedor y el patio exterior cuentan con un amplio espacio para estacionamiento. Las paredes de colores brillantes resaltan los muebles tallados a mano procedentes de México.
La energía alrededor del extenso bar en forma de U es festiva y con música contagiosa. Enormes televisores transmiten deportes de Boston. Con hojuelas de patatas fritas y salsa pico de gallo de cortesía, ordene de la amplia selección de tequilas y margaritas. El menú mexicano se centra en platos familiares como enchiladas, fajitas, burritos de bistec y nachos. Las raciones de El Potro son generosas, y los platos principales se acompañan de cremosos frijoles refritos, arroz o tortillas.
La historia de los Interianos es una que es familiar en Chelsea. Elías y Juana Interiano llegaron a Estados Unidos como trabajadores inmigrantes entusiastas de El Salvador. Empezaron recogiendo tomates y lavando platos. Tras años en el negocio de los restaurantes trabajando para otras personas, los Interianos abrieron su primer restaurante en Somerville en 2006. Su objetivo era ofrecer auténtica comida mexicana y centroamericana preparada con recetas familiares y utilizando ingredientes frescos. Aún continúan absteniéndose de usar mezclas o ingredientes ya preparados.
El negocio ha crecido localmente hasta llegar a cuatro locales, incluyendo Somerville, Chelsea, Lowell y Malden. El hijo, Jason Interiano, es el gerente general. El mismo afán de sus padres por conseguir mejores oportunidades para su familia impulsa a la siguiente generación a dar lo mejor de sí misma en todo lo que emprenden.
La propia banda de mariachis de los Intrianos toca una noche a la semana, y el menú infantil de El Potro mantendrá ocupado a los más pequeños mientras usted disfruta de su velada. El Potro ofrece comida para llevar, catering y está disponible para eventos privados.
